The Importance of SEO
SEO– Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the visibility of a website on organic (“natural” or un-paid) search engine result pages (SERPs), by incorporating search engine friendly elements into a website. A successful search engine optimization campaign will have, as part of the improvements, carefully select, relevant, keywords which the on-page optimization will be designed to make prominent for search engine algorithms. SEO is broken down into two basic areas: on-page, and off-page optimization. On-page optimization refers to website elements which comprise a web page, such as HTML code, textual content, and images. Off-page optimization refers, predominantly, to backlinks (links pointing to the site which is being optimized, from other relevant websites).- Quoted from http://www.whatisseo.com/ check out that site
Now that you have the textbook understanding, how can SEO really help you? Well for example you may find this blog post if you type in “what is SEO” in google. When you type in certain keywords in Google it will search and produce a search result based on what you enter in to the search. Simple enough right?
Well unless you know how google works it can be a nightmare. Mostly everyone involved in any form of online business wants to hit the first page of google, right? They understand that being of the first page is critical for their business, but alot of people just don’t do the necessary work to research how to get there. I still have trouble hitting the first page sometimes, depending on what I am trying to rank for. Considering I run several online businesses, it takes some work on my part to find out what keywords are low competition but high search volume, sometimes hours.
The Keyword Search Begins
So you haven’t decided on a particular niche or product yet I suggest you do that first. I do recommend staying away from large oversaturated niches like weight loss, betting, and dating, there is just alot of competition in those niches and will be very hard to rank with those.
So now that you have a niche in mind, you need to research the search volume it gets. This can be done easily with Google Keyword Tool. Click Here to Go to Google Keyword Tool
It should look like this. Just sign in with you google account which is your google email. After you have done that you can begin you search.
You should see a page like this. Click the search column you want. Once you have entered the keyword it will give you a list of other related keywords and the search volume. Keep in mind you are going for low or medium competition keywords, so try to keep it under 50k monthly searches.
Here are some examples of keywords that you could possibly rank for in google. If you notice the competition is low and with a decent amount of money searches. If you expand each keyword it will give you a list of other keywords that you can use in your content as well. Remember you want to use the keywords in your content but also keep the content readable for your visitors.
This is just one part of SEO and hopefully this will get you on the right track of using “SEO” to it’s full advantage. To find out more about properly using SEO there is a wonderful course that i have personally been through that teaches this. Believe me when I say I have tried several programs and courses.
